I've been under self-imposed house arrest this week forcing myself to get all our taxes paperwork together for our accountant. Last year was our first real year as a business and we also bought a house so we've definitely graduated from the 1040EZ forms. WHAT?!?! Did I just write that sentence?? I am talking about tax forms?? Seriously, could I get less interesting? The sad thing is that I now quasi-enjoy talking to other like-minded individuals about things like taxes and health insurance. Someone, quick, get me a rock and roll t-shirt and some Top Ramen! [For some reason those are the first things that came into my head to represent me at a youthful 20 years old.]
To make it up to you in a manner completely unrelated to taxes or 19 cent noodles, please enjoy a couple random Berkley animal sitings in the wild.
The first was directed our way from the ever lovely Danielle featuring the comedy powerhouse duo ThunderAnt [aka Carrie Brownstein and Fred Armisen] I think this puts me two degrees away from Tina Fey? Actually, I guess the animals are two degrees and I'm the third. Darn. Still a little too far...
I like the way the animals are just hanging out and have nothing to do with anything they are saying. This was filmed at Reading Frenzy in Portland, in case you were wondering. And, if you didn't already know, Reading Frenzy is the best Independent Press Emporium in the world. Spend money there. [Please.]
The second video was brought to our attention by eagle eyed blog reader, Kristen. The animals don't have quite the screen time, but I think they really tie things up nicely in the end. Thanks Flosstradamus!
Finally, what would a video salute be without a completely random insert from our video archives? Here is what it was like when we visited Graceland once:
I think we haven't been blogging that often because most of our days lately go like this:
1. Wake up
2. Go to work (day jobs)
3. Come home
4. Go to work (art jobs)
5. Go to bed late
6. Try to sleep but instead toss and stir while watching infomercials or public access.
Many times this does not make for excellent blogging. And yes, I know that blogging does not have to be "here is what I did today" and, truth be told, that isn't the type of blog we'd really like to have but this schedule is so routine that it's hard to even mind break from it (especially this time of year).
The schedule is paying off in the next week, though, as we're participating in all kinds of artsy thingies. If you are in Portland, you should check out one or all of these shows. Conveniently, they are all having First Thursday openings. Isn't that handy?
Ryan didn't paint a skateboard but he did do a super extremely spectacular skateboard themed illustration. Ryan wants to keep it a secret until the show opens so we'll post it in a couple days. I'll give you a hint, though: the title is "Mervin of the Cosmic Underbrush". Interested yet?
Featuring an original by Ryan, prints by Ryan, and WOWZA - photos by Lucy. Dirt cheap! Go support one of our favorite local shops and get yourself some art for the holidays!
Whoops - We don't have a photo for this one but considering it's about forty paces from Reading Frenzy, you should just stop by. More affordable art for the holidays! Your grandma will love it!
After Thursday's madness, we head up to Seattle for Urban Craft Uprising's two day sale.
Heeeey Seattle! Come say hello! We have the animals you've been looking for!
More art news coming in the next couple weeks.
Lastly, I just realized we have a lot of mini-videos that are, as yet, unreleased to the public so I think I might start adding them completely randomly to blog posts.
Today's edition is not random, however. We'd like to say "Happy Birthday" to Mr. Beau Berkley. May all your kung-fu moves reap sweet rewards .
