Today's announcement is full of intrigue, wine, a secret society, and Ryan's drawings. A tantalizing combination, no?
Psst: Go here (but make sure no one follows you):
If you can solve the cryptic puzzle at the entry, you're in for a sherry-soaked choose your own adventure of learning, disguise-making, and best of all, animated Ryan Berkley portrait-finding. Within these halls, is one of Ryan's recent projects:
Ryan was hired by Creature Design out of Seattle to create eight characters based on types of sherry wine. Each person represents the qualities of the wine they are sipping. It's a great concept design and one that matches up with Ryan's illustration style (and my love for all these intrigue related) perfectly.
Here are Ryan's original drawings paired up with the secret society-ized poster versions:
Fino:
Manzanilla:
Amontillado:
Palo Corado:
Cream:
Oloroso:
Moscatel:
and Pedro Ximenez:
I'm not sure these photos do the posters justice. They have really nice metallic highlights and subtleties that aren't translating exactly via interweb. I guess that just means it's for secret-members' eyes only.
We're really excited that the poster designs have been selected for the Communication Arts 2009 Design Annual. Congratulations to Creature and to Ryan!
These are fantastic! Wow, I really love them. I think that Cream is for sure my favourite, but also Moscatel. So good!

I have been trying to find the site with the password. The first time I tried I didn't get further than birth date. This time I still do not see the one that won the prize. This is a new site that Sue just sent me. Really enjoy the pictures here. Hope to see you soon. Grum
